Dr Craig Bird & Ceci (German Short Haired Pointer)

Our veterinarians consult at both the myVET Glen Osmond Road,  and myVET Cross Road veterinary clinics.

Dr Craig Bird, Dr Hilton Smith and Dr Andrew Hay work as a team and offer a unique continuity of care for our clients.

Craig graduated from Murdoch University, Perth WA in 1983.

On completion of his studies Craig returned to South Australia and has been a partner in the practice for nearly the past 30 years.  Craig has a wealth of experience, and his calm and caring demeanour has been appreciated by many dogs, cats and their owners over the years.

Craig has an interest in orthopaedic surgery and cryosurgery and is accredited by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society as a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.

Many of our clients would have met Ceci, Craig's German Short Haired Pointer who accompanies Craig to work most days.

Hilton graduated from Massey University, New Zealand in 1996. He began his career as a mixed practice veterinarian near Rotorua, NZ, dealing predominantly with large dairy cow herds.  At the end of 1998 Hilton worked for 3 months in Naracoorte and Penola before embarking on a 2 year stint to the United Kingdom.  There he worked in a number of clinics, from London and East Sussex to Whitehaven in the Lake District dealing mainly with cats, dogs, rabbits and hamsters.

Hilton has a special interest in dermatology and companion animal behavior.

With two young children and a recently renovated home, Hilton is working up to choosing the right pet for their family.

Andrew graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2008 and spent 3 years as a mixed practitioner in the Adelaide Hills, treating pocket pets, wildlife and large and small animals. He spent some time in small animal practice before undertaking an 18 month training period in emergency medicine. He is in the midst of studying for his membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in emergency and critical care.

Andrew has particular intersts in reproduction, cardiac conditions and emergency and critical care. He is owned by two Burmese cats and spends his leisure time losing to his wife at tennis, as well as exploring the Adelaide Hills with his dogs.
